Reed - User Guide

If you are on this page, you have placed an order on our shop, thank you very much for trusting us!

Tips:

  • Soak the reed never more than 5 minutes.

    1st grip:

1 - Soak the reed in water, 1 to 2 minutes.

      2 - Slightly tighten the 2 rings:

      • Raise the stem using the pliers
      • Test with your fingers if it moves
      • Check if there is a lot of space between ring and reed
      • Tighten very little with the pliers (left to right direction)
      • Retest until the ring stops moving.
        • Caution: Do not overtighten and avoid hollowing the reed.
        • Tip: At first, don't overtighten the 2nd ring. The 1st ring yes, the 2nd ring less.

      3 - Round the 2 rings

It is possible that it is still necessary to tighten the rings a 2nd time. To check, raise the stem of each ring and if the ring moves too much, retighten.

Afterwards, do not tighten your reed any more and adjust the reed at the level of the opening by opening or closing your rings using your pliers as described above.

      Scratch the tip:

I got into the habit of always making a small point on my reeds. I advise you to do the same. This will round out the sound, improve the attack and lower the pitch (very) slightly.
